Falling for the City

Is it possible to fall any deeper in love with this city?

During an eventful Sunday at uptown’s Ale House, Rian & I promised a group of Ale House regulars (&& our new favorite waiter) that we’d return for Monday Night Football. And so we did. We met uptown on Monday… determined to follow through.

As I’ve mentioned before, we are dedicated to expanding our sports bar horizons. Ale House is definitely one for the blogs. Listen: Two levels, great service, TVs galore, && honey BBQ wings that will make you have a baby.

I mean, just take a look at this:

So we were happy to return for Monday night’s game. And though we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, we were tired from the day && only stuck it out until halftime—just long enough to feel confident about an impending Dolphins loss. :) Yet as we left Ale House, ready to turn in, we quickly came up with a much more interesting end to the night: a quest for a rooftop overlooking the city. Just for fun.

We took off. A cool dude outside of the Omni hipped us to a structure over on 4th && we figured, why not? “You Only Live Once” allowed us to ignore the fact that our heels would have to carry us back to our cars at the end of the trek.

As we got closer to our destination we spotted this area:

It reminded me of West 4th in New York && other areas of The Village. We spotted a shop labeled "Tattoo" && another labeled "Pub." && in our heels, we ran!

Our click clacks led us to the Belfast Mill—a poppin’ little bar which recently expanded to 2 floors. Located in the Latta Arcade, the whole area is an inconspicuous gem of a strip. Shout out to the bartender, Aimee for giving us the #skinnTy.

…&& a buttery nipple:

We threw back a shot && left to continue on our rooftop hunt. But yet again, something special caught our eye.

&& after an impromptu photoshoot… we finally found it:

Always falling for you, QC.

Long nights && sweet dreams,

For the Love of Football...

When Rian picked me up from Charlotte Douglas International on Tuesday night, after three years of me living cross country... we could barely contain our excitement. Rian is not only my sorority sister, but one of my best friends && fellow football fanatic. So, naturally, a simple airport pick up was out of the question. We immediately shot up to uptown for a re-introductory walk through && a Buffalo Wild Wings pit-stop.

Now, if you recall, Buffalo Wild Wings was our clique's spot when it first opened in uptown. If you don’t remember, peep this: http://tinyurl.com/32dfbsg. Rian and I had to stop through that night to scout out our football season seats.  Now, we’ve vowed to hit different sports bars throughout the season... Just to keep it interesting. But if all else fails, we need a home base. For now those are: the bustling Buffalo Wild Wings && the oh so cherished Champions.

On Thursday, September 5th, we tested out BWW for the “FirzzzGameADaSeason.” Ravens vs. Broncos. We got there early to ensure that our seats were satisfactory. Not that it mattered much. BWW might as well be Best Buy with the number of TVs that line that place. Nevertheless, our seats were gold.

I must admit, we got a little nervous when, with only 15 minutes til kick off, the U.S. Open remained on both of the large screens. After convincing our waitress to correct the devastating problem, we were then left with the distracting issue of CNN dragging us back into the real world with their tales of murders & drones. Rian and I are both current event junkies, so it wasn’t for lack of interest… It’s just that our vibe was being trampled on! So we requested that channel be changed as well.

We made this face:

They certainly complied...

Rian was all like...

B-Dubs gets 5 stars for customer service.

After an over 30 minute kick-off delay, football season commenced && adrenaline was restored to the lives of many.

Rian’s a Viking and I’m a Jet. Both of our games take place at 1pm on Sunday, September 8th. If you & your friends have a similar issue & need to watch multiple games at once, let me tell you… Buffalo Wild Wings is the place to be. :)

Cheers to tackles && touchdowns!

Finder's Keepers

No, I didn’t just abandon my blog, though I suppose I never truly said a proper goodbye—I have a habit of doing that. …Sowwy. I guess it’s because I always knew I’d be returning!

If you weren’t aware, I’ve been in Lost Angie—you know, the City of Angels—for the past few years. I worked at music’s #1 record label and the Hollywood and industry life suited me. I LOVED IT. Yes, it was wild and every bit as star-studded as you can imagine! But stars can align on each coast and, while I know I’ll miss my Lost Angie, my heart truly yearned for Charlotte.

I did post about my adventures, a bit. So if you want the skinny, eat your heart out here:

Anyway, now I’m back and ready for the next chapter. As I have in the past, I plan to keep you in my pocket as I explore all that this beautiful Queen of a city has to offer. Some places you may frequent often. Others may be hidden trinkets you’ve never even heard of. Nevertheless, I vow to be there, and I want you there too!

If you rockin’ with it, you rollin’.

Find me, keep me.

Taste the Rose

A new beginning for one almost ended my life. I literally almost died the day I hopped on the highway to travel to Lyn’s bachelorette party. Over dramatic you say? Not at all. It was pouring rain in Charlotte. So much so that when the thick sheets of water finally cleared off of my windshield, I was in 2 lanes. I was going less than 15 mph (I’m a speed demon, so you know something had to be awry).

Anyway, this blog is really not about me. It’s about the things I do. So I’ll get to the point. The point is that Lyn, an old co-worker & awesome friend, was getting married! Celebratory dinners were definitely in order… So were good girlfriends ready to share in the moment. Kenzie, my other co-worker was the designated coordinator & as always, she picked the perfect spot.

Insert: Pewter Rose.

It served as more than just shelter from the tropical storm going on outside. The ambiance was soothing. It was a great date location, especially for couples who have been together for a while. We had a private room for our party. Glass walls surrounded us so that we could still see the rest of the restaurant while maintaining our privacy.

And we needed it… With our trivia questions & sharing of memories, we were slightly less concerned with noise level as one might have hoped. Yes… We had a blast!

My Tomato Bisque was amazing by the way.

Have a looksie:

Anyone want to accompany me on my next trip? && don't be a tease...

All smiles,
